    AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY
    Agricultural machinery has
    been manufactured in the Irish
Free State for close on a century.
it was in Co. Wexford, in the
year 1847, that the oldest of the
ten firms engaged in the industry
    at the present time began
    business. Wexford remains the
    principal manufacturing centre,
but the industry has spread to
    the Counties Cavan, Cork, Don-
    gal, GaIway, Kilkenny, Limerick
    and neighboring Wicklow. All
the needs of the farming com-
    munity are now provided by
    home production. beet lifters,
    hay kives, corn crushers, slashers,
    ploughs, and sickles are
only a few of the articles manu-
    factured.
